Update from Club President Mike Byrnes – September 2025
September 6, 2025
Dear Members,
I wish to apprise you of several important and timely updates as we transition into the autumn portion of the 2025 season at the Club.
- There remains an opportunity to complete the 2025 Season Membership Survey. The Board is conducting this survey to solicit feedback regarding your experiences at the Golf Club. The Board intends to utilize the valuable data accrued from the survey to inform decisions pertaining to the 2026 season. To date, we have achieved approximately a 20% response rate. Should an additional 25 members participate, we will attain a 30% response rate, which is considered statistically robust for a survey. - The annual Fall Meeting of the membership is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. A quorum of 30 members is requisite to conduct the meeting. Kindly register your attendance on the sign-up sheet located at the bar. The Club will provide appetizers, and a cocktail hour will commence at 3:00 p.m. (cash bar – an opportune occasion to utilize unspent chits). There is no charge for attendance at the meeting.
- Sunday, September 21st, will also be our Staff Appreciation Day. On this day, members volunteer in shifts to staff the bar, the pro shop, and the kitchen, thereby affording our dedicated staff members a day of leisure at the club. We encourage you to sign up for a shift at the bar and/or the pro shop. Additionally, a Staff Appreciation raffle is being conducted, with the drawing scheduled to occur at the fall meeting. This initiative represents a primary means by which our membership extends a season gratuity to the staff from the kitchen, course, and pro shop. We encourage your participation in purchasing raffle squares. We wish you the best of luck.
- Special recognition is extended to member Nick Marsella for his most generous donation of a new water station. You will observe the new water cooler station positioned near the #5/#14 tees.
- On the evening of Thursday, September 4th, during Twilight League, we commemorated the 70th birthday of long-standing member, Bob Cowherd. Happy Birthday to Bob.
- Congratulations are extended to Cazenovia Golf Club member, Ryan Goldacker, who recently secured a silver medal at the Special Olympics North America 2025 Golf Championships. Ryan competed with Level 1 athletes in the skills competition (short and long putting and chipping). This national event transpired from August 25-28, 2025, at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, PA. For more info on Ryan, please scroll to the bottom to read his full bio provided by the Special Olympics of North America.
- Also, congratulations to Dennis Colligan for qualifying for the Senior PGA Professional Championship and to Jeff Reader who is first alternate for the PGA’s Central New York Section. The 2025 Senior PGA Professional Championship will take place on October 23-26, at the PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker & Ryder Courses) in Port St. Lucie, Florida
We appreciate your attention to this update. We anticipate an excellent fall golf season, with ample opportunities for all to enjoy the sport. Check out our calendar for upcoming events. Please be on the look out for further communications from Dennis Colligan regarding fall events and schedule adjustments, as well as a course conditions update from Brent Carroll.
