The Course

Without a doubt, the essence of Cazenovia Golf Club is the nine wonderful holes that make up this green jewel.  From the first tee to the ninth green, you’ll find something different at every hole.  Challenging holes and breathtaking views combine to bring you an enjoyable day on the course.

The course is plotted on two sides of Woodfield Road.  The “upper 4″ consists of 1,2, 8 and 9.  After completing a par 5 dog-leg, you’ll reach the 235 yd par-3 No.2.  Downhill play, bunkers, mature hardwoods, and a sloping green all make this into one of the most challenging par 3s you’ll ever play.  Crossing Woodfield Road, takes you to the “lower 5″ where the straight and narrow No. 3 is viewed as one of the most beautiful holes in the Syracuse District.  Nos. 4, 5, and 6 all include challenges of sand,  trees and tough-to-read greens. The number 1 handicap 7 is a great finish to the “lower 5″.  Crossing back over Woodfield Road, No. 8 climbs back to the top of the course, with a strong left-to-right lie, and OB on the right.  A two-level green makes for a challenging end to No. 8. Finishing the front 9 rewards you with the high-point of the course, and affords views of Cazenovia Lake and surrounding rolling hills.  This par 5 ends with an elevated approach to the green.

The back nine is played from separate tees, giving a new approach to most of the holes. The course has a USGA slope rating of 120 (men) / 123 (women).  You can view a full course scorecard here.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is the nucleus of the club.  It houses a large, casual dining room, kitchen and bar, Pro Shop, and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

The kitchen serves lunch Tuesday through Sunday.  Dinner is prepared as part of the league programs (Tuesday Women’s / Thursday Men’s / Friday Couples).  Alternating Fridays are typically “Fish Frys”, and attended by members who often bring guests to introduce them to the club.  A full bar is available and typically open when the club is open.

The Pro Shop carries all of your golfing needs, from apparal to the latest clubs and equipment.  Dennis Colligan, Director of Golf, will assist you in the right equipment to suit your needs.

The Camaraderie

Many life-long friendships have been formed at Cazenovia Golf Club.  CGC is small enough so that members get to know each other through league play or casual matches.  Each week, there are a number of opportunities to play in organized activities such as leagues or tournaments, and when there are no events scheduled, just stop in the clubhouse…you’re sure to find another soul looking for a round.  Cazenovia Golf Club is family friendly.  Children learn proper skills and etiquette.  A round of golf at CGC is a great way to reconnect with your family.
